You are the Number One (Numero Uno) leader in one of the most high-profile organization in Malaysia. Your Chief Executive, who runs day-to-day affairs of your organization, has been ALLEGEDLY found to ‘nurture the seed of nepotism and cronyism into its full-blown state of chaos.’
The ALLEGED elements of nepotism:
i) Wife’s brother appointed as storekeeper
ii) Son appointed as Director for a newly set-up body related to the main organization with main objective to collect annual fees and also to focus on welfare and well-being of members.
The ALLEGED elements of cronyism:
i) Appointed retired personnel from same professional background (with age way passed the mandatory retirement numbers) to handle department in charge of many young professionals who are more familiar with higher level of professionalism used previously.
ii) Appointed wife of a schoolmate to an important post in charge of all personnel in the organization.
iii) Appointed few companies with links to his previous appointment to carry out jobs / task without proper bidding / tendering process.
His other ALLEGEDLY ‘meaningful’ contributions:
i) Successfully engineered the resignation of influential leader who are famous for his ‘no nonsense approach’ towards wrongdoings.
ii) Successfully, in a period of less than 20 months, engineered resignations from top executives based on many reasons, which ultimately points to one direction – his ability to stifle their potential and enthusiasm.
iii) Successfully transferred a proven young talent program to the newly set-up body which his son is now a director. Mind you, this program collect fees every three months.
iv) Succeeded in ‘taking care’ of his previous rival, who are now being given extra leverage to do things his way with the chief executive either turning the other way or closing both his eyes. Now, both are reportedly happy with the arrangement. It gives new meaning to the phrase ‘I scratch your back, you scratch mine.’
